Ivory Daffodil

The daffodil means winter is almost over. We did not always want winter to be almost over. We had plans for winter. The daffodil did not ask about the plans. It came up anyway, ivory and specific about what time of year it was, and we made a ceramic version of it because some arguments are worth having. The Ivory Daffodil The daffodil is one of the first flowers to appear after winter — in Britain and Northern Europe it arrives in February and March when the ground is barely ready to commit to spring and announces itself with the particular confidence of something that doesn't require permission to arrive.
